BYOB CHOIR PRIVACY POLICY
last updated: 17 Mar 2022

Introduction
Our privacy policy tells you how BYOB Choir collects, uses and shares your personal data when you’re a member or friend of our choir. Please have a good read through so you can understand how we use the info you give us. By being a BYOB Choir member and/or signing up to our mailing list, you’re agreeing to us using your details in the ways we describe here. If you don’t want us to collect your information and use it this way, you can ask us to remove or change your details at any time – we tell you how a bit further down.

What is personal data?
Some of the information we collect about you is defined in the General Data Protection Regulation 2018 and any successor as ‘personal data’. It basically means any info we hold about you that identifies you as a person. This includes things like your name, address, email address, phone number and date of birth.

So what data do we collect?
BYOB Choir collects the names and email addresses of members, supporters and people who’ve been in touch with us in the past about the choir. With our members, we also collect their phone numbers, the names of their children and contact details of their emergency contact person. We rely on our members or subscribers to tell us if any of this info is wrong or needs updating.

Why do we need your personal data?
If your personal details are on our database it’s because you’re either:
• A member of BYOB Choir who gets emails from us about things like the songs we’re learning, upcoming concerts, workshops, events and holidays.
• Someone who’s been in touch with BYOB Choir about joining and wants to get emails about our upcoming classes, concerts, workshops and events
• An ex-BYOBer who still wants to get emails about our upcoming classes, concerts, workshops and events.
If you’ve also given us your phone number and home address, we’ll store these along with your email address. We keep your phone number and the number of your emergency contact person in case we need to contact you or them urgently.
Data protection/your consent
We’ll never share your details with anyone else unless you tell us it’s okay, and only use your personal data in line with data protection and privacy laws. If you want any of your details removed from our database, just let us know.
When you become a choir member or subscribe to our mailing list, you’ll be asked to agree to giving us your personal details. This consent gives us the legal basis we need to process your data – but you have the right to withdraw it at any time. You can either unsubscribe or ask us to update your details by getting in touch on byobchoir@gmail.com.

Where and how we store your data

We keep your info on our secure login/password-protected systems, which can only be accessed by BYOB Choir staff, and we take all the reasonable measures we can to keep them safe.

Third Party Sites

Our website and Facebook page might contain links to third-party websites and features. Our privacy policy doesn’t cover their privacy practices (and we can’t accept responsibility or liability for them), so it’s a good idea to read their policies before you give them any of your details.
